How does the license work?

The first time Belt Analyst II is loaded on a computer, it is tied to a unique serial number on your hard drive therefore it will only work on that computer. An initial 30-day demo period is started. When this occurs a unique SITE CODE is created and available from the LICENSE page. Overland Conveyor can give you additional evaluation days or give you a permanent license by returning a unique SITE KEY. There is no need to keep the SITE KEY after entering it as it will no longer work after its first use. It WILL NOT work on any other computer but the one which generated the SITE CODE.

Can I upgrade the software without losing my license?

Yes. Do NOT uninstall the previous version. Simply install the upgrade over the top of the old in the same folder. The license will not change.

I got a new computer; how do I get Belt Analyst II to work?

Load Belt Analyst II on your new computer from the original CD or from the installation file from our website. Since this is a new computer, it will automatically give you 30-days. Now you can transfer the license from the old computer to the new one with a 3 1/2" floppy disk and your A: drive. Go the LICENSE page, click the TRANSFER button and follow the directions.

My hard drive crashed and I had to re-format. Now Belt Analyst II won't run because my license is gone.

Re-formating a hard drive will destroy the digital key on your hard drive with the license information. Please copy the new SITE CODE from the LICENSE page and email to analyst2@overlandconveyor.com and we will create a new SITE KEY for you.

I de-fragmented my drive and I lost my Belt Analyst II license.

We are aware that de-fragmenting a hard drive with Norton 'Speed Disk' might destroy the digital key on your hard drive with the license information. If this happens, please copy the new SITE CODE from the LICENSE page and email to analyst2@overlandconveyor.com and we will create a new SITE KEY for you. We have been told there is an option in 'Speed Disk' leave disk files alone.

I am interested in the network version. What is different?

Our network version simply installs the license on the network server and individual users 'share' the license. The program is still loaded on individual workstations or PCs as always. We will send you a 'server install file' which will install the licensing software on the server. We will provide a SITE KEY providing the floating license. Each user must locate the network license from the individual PCs from the LICENSE page.

I have an important file which won't open?

Sometimes files can be corrupted for a large variety of reasons. Please email the file to analyst2@overlandconveyor.com along with the version number of the program you are using. We will fix the file ASAP and return it along with an explanation of the problem.

How do we model a tripper conveyor?

Belt Analyst II will not accept a negative length on the Carry side so a tripper profile cannot be modeled exactly. However, you can bring the backside tripper flight almost straight down and make the load percentage 0% on that flight. Insert tripper pulleys in their correct locations. The errors created in this slight profile change or negligible. Depending the version you are using, you may need to change the maximum flight angle to 90 deg in CUSTOMIZED DEFAULTS from the EDIT menu.

What does "DIN Factor" mean?

Belt Analyst II uses CEMA methodology to calculate power and belt tensions. In CEMA conveyor friction is divided into 2 parts Ky and Kx. DIN uses a different mythology to calculate power which uses only one friction factor. Belt Analyst II calculates the equivalent DIN friction factor (single friction factor) for comparison purposes only. The DIN factor is calculated and can not be changed.

What is different between the DEMO and the real version?

Nothing. The DEMO is the complete working program with only a temporary license.

What documentation comes with the final version?

There is no paper documents with the program. All help files and documentation are electronic. Feel free to download the electronic HELP files from our website at http://overlandconveyor.com/analyst2/ or visit our ONLINE HELP at http://overlandconveyor.com/help/.

Could you define belt wrap direction "clockwise or counter-clockwise"?

It is the direction the pulley is rotating or the direction the belt is moving around the pulley as depicted on the pulley drawing.

The minimum radius curves are being set by the running edge radius. Is this lack of belt tension in the edges?

Yes, In a concave curve, minimum radius is calculated and shown for liftoff, edge tension and center tension and the default is selected as the largest of the three. The minimum edge tension radius is based on not allowing the edge tension to drop low enough to droop and spill material. The minimum center tension radius is based on not over stresses the center of the belt. If the Edge Tension is the largest radius, this means the belt tension is
very low compared to the belt strength (modulus). Adding take-up weight, reducing belt strength or reducing idler angle will reduce this radius.

What type of take-up condition would have more than 1 pulley? Does this input intend to include bend pulleys for the take-up?

No this doesn't refer to the bends but only the moving pulleys. Some take-ups have more than one pulley in the carriage. Instead of 2 laps of belt, there might be 4 laps of belt with 2 pulleys attached to the counterweight. These types of take-ups are very common in underground mines where space is very limited. You get more belt storage with half the take-up travel. But it also takes twice as much force to get the same belt tension as well.

We have experienced a "Run Time Error Overflow" a few times. Any comments on how to prevent this from happening?

We have tried hard to prevent these types of errors from occurring, but obviously we have not found them all. Usually they occur when a certain set of inputs cause come illegal operations to occur such as divide by zero. When this happens, we would really appreciate it if you would send us the file and tell us what you were doing when the error occurred (as best you can). We will then be able to fix the problem. Hopefully we will get them all out very soon.
