Mine or Plant Wide Assesments
If conveyor downtime is eating into your production, a plant wide audit might reveal some simple changes that could have huge
benefits. Older plants can be especially vulnerable to changes in the design of major components like belting and pulleys over
the years. Perhaps new materials are available that were not when the plant was built. Einstein said "the definition of insanity
is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results." Perhaps a new fresh look at old methods is warranted.
Perhaps a mine wide assessment is not required. But one or two problems always seem to pop up at regular intervals. How long should
that component last? When new equipment is installed, it may take weeks or even months for problems to raise there head in failures. But
wouldn’t it be nice to identify potential problems before the failure occurs?
