Rheinbraun
Conveyor Transfer Design
The Rhenish (Rhineland) lignite-mining region covers
an area of some 2,500km² to the west of cologne
Germany. RWE Rheinbraun AG operates four large opencast
mines in the district - Hambach, Garzweiler, Inden and
Bergheim - which between them produced 94.3Mt of lignite
in 2001.

ever brought into production in the UK, the 301's face
at Daw Mill colliery in Warwickshire is living up to
expectations. |

dust at conveyor transfers. |

Tunnel
As part of the Lower Meramec River System Improvement
project, the joint venture will use a Wirth TBM to bore
20,275 feet of 12-foot diameter tunnel. Three major
shafts and will be constructed, a lift station approximately
100 feet in diameter and 200 vertical feet, the termination
shaft will be 34 feet in diameter and the screen shaft
will be 36 feet in diameter. Site work began in mid-January
2004 with completion in 2006. |

On May 31, 1995 the Department of Energy (DOE) awarded
a contract to The Conveyor Company of Sibley, IA for
a muck handling system described as follows:
“Conveyor System will be 36” wide, approximately
25,900 feet long, maximum capacity of 1000 TPH, capable
of muck transport over an elevation gain of approximately
208 ft with three horizontal curves of approximately
115, 4 and 89 degrees, with one main drive unit and
four booster drive units.” |
