RWE Rheinbraun

Conveyor Transfer Design

The Rhenish (Rhineland) lignite-mining region covers an area of some 2,500km² to the west of cologne Germany. RWE Rheinbraun AG operates four large opencast mines in the district - Hambach, Garzweiler, Inden and Bergheim - which between them produced 94.3Mt of lignite in 2001.

Daw Mill

Once described as the most high-tech, long life face ever brought into production in the UK, the 301's face at Daw Mill colliery in Warwickshire is living up to expectations.

Soseggo

Sossego, which started shipping on June 3, is
the first CVRD copper project and the only greenfield copper project in the world to start operating in 2004. It is located in the south of the Carajas mineral province, state of Para, Brazil.

Atlanta Hartfield Airport

In order to meet the increased demand for air travel and reduce current delays, the city of Atlanta is building a new 9,000 foot Fifth Runway. The runway is schedule to be commissioned in May 2006.

Escondida

Escondia, the world's largest copper mine, is in northern Chile's Atacama Desert, 160 kms south-east of the port city of Antofagasta, at 3,100 meters above sea level.

Drummond

Drummond operates Colombia's second-largest coal mine, in La Loma. In 2001, it marketed more than 12 million metric tons of Colombian coal to more than a dozen countries.

Belle Ayr

RAG is considering a proposal for an overland conveyor haulage system with the ultimate goal of
reducing overall coal haulage costs. The truck haul distance between the pit and the train loadout has grown over the years as mining has progressed to the west.

Powder River Coal - Rochelle Mine

Dust Control Inc (DCI) have developed and is marketing a conveyor transfer system called “Passive Enclosure Dust Control System” or PECS. PECS is a new concept that utilizes existing
proven technologies to mitigate respirable and fugitive dust at conveyor transfers.

Baumgartner Tunnel

As part of the Lower Meramec River System Improvement project, the joint venture will use a Wirth TBM to bore 20,275 feet of 12-foot diameter tunnel. Three major shafts and will be constructed, a lift station approximately 100 feet in diameter and 200 vertical feet, the termination shaft will be 34 feet in diameter and the screen shaft will be 36 feet in diameter. Site work began in mid-January 2004 with completion in 2006.

Yucca Mountain

On May 31, 1995 the Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a contract to The Conveyor Company of Sibley, IA for a muck handling system described as follows:
“Conveyor System will be 36” wide, approximately 25,900 feet long, maximum capacity of 1000 TPH, capable of muck transport over an elevation gain of approximately 208 ft with three horizontal curves of approximately 115, 4 and 89 degrees, with one main drive unit and four booster drive units.”
